Agus and Alfo in front of BondiHouse — the couple behind this tiny house in Maldonado, Uruguay
Our story

Sometimes all you see is the result

Sometimes we see the result… but not everything behind it.

BondiHouse didn’t happen overnight. It came together slowly, through time, mistakes, lessons and a real desire to create a different kind of place. A stay for people who want to get away from the noise, slow down and reconnect with what matters. A spot surrounded by nature, just minutes from Solanas, Punta Ballena and some of the most beautiful beaches in the area.

Over time, that family project also became an experience we now share on Airbnb. A place where you can wake up surrounded by forest, walk to the beach, lie in the grass all summer, soak in a hot wooden tub under the stars, light the wood-burning stove in winter, or just sit around a campfire in the moonlight.

And along the way, life happened. We found each other, we built, we learned, we started a family — and we realized that what began as a personal project could become a place to share with others.

Today it welcomes travelers from Uruguay and all over the world who are looking for more than a place to stay. They want a few unhurried days. To breathe. To listen to the sounds of the forest. To see a sky full of stars. To share dinner outdoors. Or to stay in and binge a series on the projector with surround sound, like a tiny movie theater in the middle of nature.

Because in the end, BondiHouse was never just a bus turned into a tiny house. It was always an invitation to live a little more slowly.

We met at work

At a multinational tech company. Two coworkers with a lot of dreams in common.

We left corporate life

We quit our jobs and left the city. To live closer to nature and build something of our own.

We built our first house

We had 6 months to finish it, because we wanted to get married there. With no previous experience, we learned by doing.

We got married in the garden

The house we built with our own hands was the setting. Close to the beach, surrounded by the people we love most.

Franca arrived

The nesting instinct hit us hard. We had to add on to the house to give her a bedroom. Franca came into the world right in the middle of construction.

Franca’s room, finished

The house kept growing along with us. And that’s when our team of three began.

We bought a bondi

Something in us needed another project. We found a Mascarello bus (“bondi” is our local slang for bus) and started our wildest transformation yet.

What we thought would take 6 months...

Kept stretching out. But along the way, something unexpected showed up: you. A community that kept joining our story.

And so BondiHouse was born

Our second home. Built by hand, surrounded by nature. A place to share with anyone who wants to experience something different.
